I have once again joined the ByAnnie team for the #SewPINK Initiative in support of breast cancer awareness in October.
Efforts culminate in an annual blog hop during October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but our commitment to cancer awareness and support continues year-round.

Progress and Prevention
Thanks to advances in research and treatment, breast cancer survival rates have improved significantly, especially with early detection. Personalized treatments and innovative therapies continue to offer hope, even in advanced cases.
However, disparities in care remain. Black women face higher breast cancer mortality rates than White women, while rural, low-income, and uninsured patients often encounter barriers to quality care. Closing these gaps is just as important as advancing treatment.
Early detection saves lives. Regular screenings are essential, and mammograms remain one of the most effective tools for detecting breast cancer early. Most guidelines recommend beginning screenings at age 40, though individual risk factors may influence when and how often you should be screened.
